At a law office in Newburgh, New York, angry Cliff Peterson feels cheated that he received chump change from the estate of his late parents. His adopted younger sister Belle expected nothing but gives her hateful brother her check in exchange for what he knows about her past. Cliff says his father loathed her and felt they should ship her back to her mother Frankie Donatello in Remenee, Italy. Belle looks up towns in Italy, takes leave from her job at Trans Continental Cell Phones and travels to Rimini on the Adriatic in search of her biological family.

In Rimini, single dad Widower Leonardo Malatesta worries about his ailing six-month old daughter Concetta while also grieving the death of his beloved Benedetta who died in child birth. Since his baby feels better, Leon goes to the bank where his assistant Berto told him an American woman asked questions about the Donatello family. Leon confronts Belle but insists he cannot help her; meanwhile she visits every Donatello she can during her week in town. Something he cannot explain disturbs him, so changing his mind, Leon visits Belle. When she mentions she seeks someone in their forties who lived in New York over two decades ago, stunned Leon knows a married Donatello who fits the descriptor and why the American looks familiar.

This is a great contemporary romance that starts off with a woman seeking her roots but soon plants roots as she learns family matters. Character-driven by the likable lead protagonists and a powerful support cast, readers will relish this thrilling tale of love taking root in Rimini.
